It has been eight years since Buck left us, and we are all amazed at how fast the time has gone. This is Gregory Anne, Buck’s daughter. We have rather passively kept Etiquette’s site alive, so that the story of Etiquette and of the Northwest’s rock and roll scene would be kept alive and accessible.
Now, we have great news to share! Before Buck died, he and director, Jordan Albertsen, a diehard Sonics fan, began work on a documentary about the band and Buck’s role in their success. The movie, BOOM: a film about the Sonics, follows the band’s evolution from a small garage group trying to find its way to one of the earliest and most influential groups throughout various pockets of the music world. The film features interviews with members of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Heart, Mudhoney, and the Presidents of the United States, as well as Buck and many others who have been in some way affected by their music.
BOOM is currently showing in smaller, local theaters throughout the US and Europe as well! If this is something you would like to see in your area, please contact the cinema and google the film to find countless articles and accolades to further your encouragement for a theater engagement. Shows are not only selling out wherever it is shown, but often second and even third shows are being added! You can also see if Jordan will travel to have a meet and greet, question and answer afterward.
Jordan and his crew have done a remarkable job. We feel incredibly fortunate that he put his heart, soul, and resources into creating this magical and personal account. Much of the story behind Buck, Etiquette, the Sonics and those in their orbit is now chronicled forever for posterity. We are so honored and grateful.
After the new year, there is talk of the film being streamed, but final word on where to find it has not been determined. We will let you know!
